We are looking for a skilled fine art silkscreen printer...


Harwood King is an award winning and innovative fine art print studio with over 30 years’ experience. Our dedicated team produce high quality fine art limited edition prints at our Newhaven studio for artists, galleries and publishers from around the world. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated silkscreen printer to join our established print team.

We are specialists in screen and digital printing, but we have also worked with etchings and woodcuts. We print onto a wide variety of media including wood, metal and aluminium as well as fine art papers. We also work with a variety of finishes including gold leaf and diamond dust.


Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced screen printer who has worked as part of a team, has a keen eye for detail, with excellent numeracy, communication, manual handling and IT skills.

  • Experience of a variety of printmaking techniques including screen printing relief printing and digital printing.

  • A keen eye for detail being able to cut or paint a stencil accurately from a master layout.

  • The studio is a team based environment and you will be working with artist and designers as well as other members of the studio team to realise our clients ideas.

  • We’re a fast paced environment so the ability to work with tight deadlines is a must.

  • Ideally we are looking for someone with experience of fine art printing, however excellent candidates with less experience will be considered, as full training will be provided.

Main responsibilities include, but not limited to

  • Preparing the screens

  • ‪Verify you have the correct screens and products to print the project

  • Produce multiple copies of a print to a high standard accurately registered without printing errors or finger marks.

  • To work methodically and record the colours and artwork used to the company database

  • Ensure machines, feed trays and ink mixing tables are cleaned thoroughly, and no ink is left on any parts at the end of a shift.

  • Complete production tracking paperwork and verify that it is accurate

  • Respond to clients briefs and find creative ways of producing work that meet the client’s specifications. Advise clients on technical aspects of production.

  • Monitor equipment and report any issues

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment being aware of and following health and safety procedures
