Clive
Peter Reeve is a British painter and sculptor, he studied his MA in
Fine Art Masters at Brighton University and exhibits
internationally. Born in London, he lives and works on the South
coast of England. During the 80’s, Clive’s early work reflected his
passion for Punk polemics and the subversive illustrations of the
underground press with his cartoons and graphics featuring in
various Fanzine publications of the time.
Outside his portraiture commissions his private painted work is
eclectic, diverse, full of visual impact and subtle symbolism and
reflects his combined passion for propaganda imagery and the native
elements of classic British Pop art. Expect to find Images of Teddy
Bears busy with coy subversion next to the Iconography of Power and
European history. Humour and reflective social comment reside in
all his works.
Clive’s sculptural output is as varied and engaging as his
painting, having been a freelance prop maker for (amongst others),
The Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne festival Opera and the National
Theatre. Having had to make absolutely anything and everything from
next to nothing for theatrical productions Clive has used his
skills to create subtle three dimensional pieces and large scale
installations.
